a green lamp anchors the corner of the desk,
the dogs dream at my feet,
As for me..
I think about the way things used to be,

The records play on helplessly,
I used to write poetry when I was younger,
The layers & edges blurred the consequence..
Of writing down the words that fell,

A couple falling in love sit behind me,
She laughs but in a quiet way,
She is hoping that he is what he seems,
He is pretending but sincere,
Love is a two way lie with one truth,
I hope they find the beauty in the end,

Not every love is everlasting,
But every night is defeated by the day,
That doesn’t mean I don’t remember,
All the words you said,

Conversations echo back & forth,
I still love the way you smile,
Even on days where we don’t feel special,
I still love to see you walk in the room,

I’ve always felt gravity,
In a way words don’t illustrate,
If I hesitate don’t mistake that for fear,
Because for this I am sure,

Ships drift into the great unknown,
Relationships fade as seasons slow,
You may be lost here precious one,
But this ain’t the great beyond,

The dull roar of the dim light,
Still persuades the corner of the desk,
Running up the wall,
From right to left,

But memory is kind,
and days get sweet,
How soon we forget,
The way it felt to bleed,

The heart forgives,
To bow just to stand on the same ground,
& I am a fool who thought I was writing for you,
But it was me that needed to hear the truth,
