This 2008 album, The Grand Archives, is a fantastic indie gem by Grand Archives. The chicken or the egg theory applies to every music fan/musician. I love music. I love discovering it and letting it sink in. As long as bands put out work as pure and as honest as this we have nothing to fear for the future of music. As a musician it’s good to remember how to be a music fan again. This album makes me want to drive into the night and think. Which by the way is definitely one of my favorite things to do.

Headlights become sailing stars drifting into and out of view,
I can’t remember when but I remember meeting you,
The night becomes elastic and electric,
A dull hum of motors and songs I only know half the words to,
Time to think for minds that don’t forgive,
How could forgetting to get your birthday card,
Remind me of when I stole the sign on your mailbox that read 328
I forgot my scars in that driveway,
I would leave and for hours drive North Georgia,
Like it was somewhere that wouldn’t bore you,
Carpet mills, truck stops, closed convenient stores and lots for sale,
I was just waiting until I would see you again,
Days get sweeter when they get farther,
Like mothers love their daughters once they go to college,
It’s not that these days are in vain,
But we seem to love things we can’t change,
It’s the moment you just had that will chase you,
It’s the love that you never had that will haunt you,
It’s the tears in your eyes that forget the sun,
I drove all night until the evening surrendered,
In case you forgot.. I remember
